This is a one-day only workshop designed for beginners and/or existing steel guitarists who have some experience on the steel guitar and would like to take their playing to the next level by learning new pieces and exploring practice strategies.
The Starter Class will work on basic technique (straight bar, forward and reverse slants), blocking, p-tahs, production of better tone, TAB reading. In this class, the fundamentals of instrument technique and TAB reading will be introduced. Students simply need to bring a steel guitar and mini amp even if they don't know how to play it.
The Symposium Class will work on pa‘ani and fills and how to develop your own background fills and pa‘ani melodies for songs ideal for jamming anywhere.
The Kani Ka Pila jam session open to the public and using songs from the He Mele Aloha Book. A $5 donation will be charged to defer the cost of the hall.
